From the young age of 7 until I was 30, my life revolved around rodeos and horse training, even earning several rodeo queen titles. My journey took an exciting turn post-pageantry as I joined the Miss Rodeo South Dakota State Pageant Board, serving seven years, four as the President.

By 23, after brainstorming a horse magazine with my future business partner in April, we resigned from our jobs in May, launching Today’s Horse Magazine by July 1. For six years, we nurtured our creation before selling it just two days before my wedding. The magazine continues to thrive.

My husband Simon and I moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for his career. There, I managed Today’s Horse Magazine remotely, produced quarterly and annual publications for clients, and later joined a large regional printing company, followed by a nearly two-year tenure at GoDaddy.

The inspiration for Shield Bar Marketing struck a year after my son Lincoln was born, fueled by weekly calls at GoDaddy from customers let down by web designers. Determined to bring integrity to the online world (and to justify hiring a housekeeper), I founded the company to serve U.S.-based service businesses looking to enhance customer engagement.

Launched in Iowa in March 2013, Shield Bar Marketing was conceived as a remote-first company, anticipating future relocations for my husband’s career. Since September 2017, we’ve been proudly calling southern Arizona our home, continuing to deliver services with the same integrity and dedication I learned on the ranch. In 2024, I acquired Copper Cup Marketing Agency and am actively merging their clients and team members into Shield Bar Marketing.”
